An SMS Gateway company provides the connections to the relevant networks you want to work with. In the UK, these are O2, Orange, Three, T-Mobile, Virgin and Vodafone. They also provide routes into other countries via peer arrangements or interconnect agreements between the networks and gateways.
So choosing a company that can provide you with stability; good interconnect policies; and high payout rates can seem daunting, as there are now an abundance of gateway companies to choose from.
We have worked with most of the large gateway organisations in the UK, including mBlox, WIN, MX Telecom, Dialogue and Zamano and also several internationally including Clickatell.
Our expertise lies in developing applications that can connect seamlessly with the gateway’s API instructions, and we have definitely found that some companies offer much better support in this key area which may be overlooked by clients who just want the biggest pay outs.
Certain gateway companies such as mBlox choose not to offer a full admin package and instead concentrate on the stability of their core system, which is sending the message. The support at mBlox is exceptional and clients are kept constantly updated on network issues.
MX Telecom on the other hand offer all kinds of add-ons for their system. Sending ring tones, wap-pushes etc are made far easier than with mBlox. Who require you to create the binary message from scratch. However with them covering a much larger range of applications the support can seem a little diluted.
